Privacy Policy

GameScout (“GameScout,” “we,” “us”) operates a ticket price comparison site. GameScout never sells tickets, never processes payments, and never sees your payment information — every purchase happens directly on a third-party provider’s own site. This policy explains what information GameScout itself collects and how we use it.
Information we collect
- Search activity. When you search for an event, that search request is processed on our server to query ticket providers. We don’t currently offer account creation, so GameScout itself doesn’t collect names, emails, or passwords.
- Outbound click tracking. When you click “See tickets” to go to a provider, we log that click for affiliate attribution: which provider and event you clicked through to, the destination URL, the referring page, and the timestamp. We don’t know whether you completed a purchase or what you paid.
- Theme preference. GameScout stores your light/dark mode choice in your browser’s local storage. This is not a cookie, isn’t shared with us or anyone else, and is the only thing GameScout itself stores in your browser.
- Standard server logs. Like most websites, our hosting provider (Vercel) automatically logs technical data with every request, such as IP address, browser/device type, and the page requested.
Ticket providers
When you search, the terms you enter are sent from our server to Ticketmaster’s and SeatGeek’s APIs to look up matching events and pricing — we don’t send them any other personal information. StubHub and Vivid Seats pricing shown on GameScout today is demo/placeholder data generated by GameScout itself for product development (clearly labeled “Demo data” wherever it appears), so no information about you is sent to StubHub or Vivid Seats through GameScout yet. This policy will be updated once live integrations with them launch.
When you click through to any provider, your browser leaves GameScout and goes directly to that provider’s own site, where their privacy policy and cookies apply, not ours. GameScout has no visibility into what happens there.
How we use information
- To attribute affiliate commissions to the right provider and click.
- To understand aggregate usage and improve GameScout.
- To remember your theme preference.
- To operate, secure, and debug the Site.
- To comply with legal obligations.
Sharing of information
We do not sell your personal information. We share click-attribution data with the specific provider you clicked through to, for commission tracking, and we use service providers to help operate GameScout (currently Vercel for hosting). We may disclose information if required by law.
Data retention
GameScout doesn’t yet persist search or click data to its own database — offers are fetched live on each request, and click events are currently written to our hosting provider’s server logs rather than a database we query (see our public roadmap). Those logs are retained per Vercel’s standard retention window. Once we start persisting this data ourselves, we’ll update this policy to describe retention periods.
Your privacy rights
If you’re a California resident, the CCPA/CPRA gives you rights to know what personal information is collected about you and to request deletion of it, along with a right to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information. GameScout does not sell personal information as defined under the CCPA — the commissions we earn come from referring you to a provider’s own checkout, not from selling data about you. Children’s privacy
GameScout is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we’ll delete it.
Changes to this policy
We’ll update the “Last updated” date above whenever this policy changes, and reflect material changes here before they take effect.
